Hi there, I’m Gertrude – but you can call me Gertie!
I’m a sweet, goofy, and curious girl who’s ready to find my forever family. My story didn’t start off so great—I was found all alone in a yard near a sanctuary in Mexico, and I wasn’t feeling my best. My skin was in rough shape, and I had a few injuries. But guess what? I didn’t let any of that dim my sparkle! I was sweet as could be to the rescuers who found me, and now I’m healthy, happy, and ready for my next adventure.
I’m about 48 pounds of pure love, likely a pit mix, and I’m 7-9 years old. I’ve been spayed, fully vaccinated, and have left my rough beginnings behind. What’s next? A cozy spot on the couch next to my forever humans, of course!

Affectionate? Oh, you bet! I’m a big-time cuddle bug.
Playful? Absolutely! Toys are my jam, and I’d love a playmate who can handle my goofy energy.

Dog and cat friendly? With proper introductions, I’m great with dogs and even get along with cats. Puppies are my favorite—I can be their cool auntie!
My ideal home: I’m flexible and would thrive in most home environments, but here are a few things to keep in mind:
I’m strong and love to play, so kids over 6 would probably be my best match. For younger kiddos, supervision is key since I sometimes forget my size.
I’d love a friendly dog sibling who gives me space and respects my boundaries. Puppies, though? Bring ‘em on—I think they’re so much fun!
I can live in a home with or without a yard. Just give me lots of time with my humans, and I’m happy.
I’m a bit clumsy on slick floors (hardwood and tile aren’t my favorite), so a home with carpets or rugs would be awesome.
Just me being me:
I need slow introductions with new dogs, and a strong leader to help me refocus if I get too excited. But don’t worry—I’m eager to please and learn quickly!
